Harkness Discussion: Kwame Alexander’s The Crossover.

6th grade engaged in a student-led Harkness discussion after finishing our trimester 2 novel-in-verse, Kwame Alexander’s The Crossover. Students use hand signals (agreeing, respectfully disagreeing, adding on, or changing their minds) and share ideas backed by textual evidence. When calling on one another, they prioritize hearing from students who haven’t yet shared as much as others.
