Who Gets Legacy?

Our guiding question for this unit in 6th Grade is “Who gets a legacy?” We find that history often honors those in power by name while often overlooking those who helped sustain those being honored. For example, Pharaohs are known, documented, and given credit for massive building projects throughout Egypt’s history. While their leadership was key– there would be no monuments without the laborers, craftspeople, those doing the dangerous work in the quarries, and the farmers who fed the entire populace. This unit concludes with the Legacy of the Forgotten, our student-created museum meant to honor the people of the lower social classes by highlighting their contributions
