The Keys Approach
Engagement and Curiosity Drive Learning at Keys.

During these formative years, students are developing their foundational academic skills and mindsets, paving the way for lifelong learning in an increasingly interconnected and diverse world.
Our students are learning how to be flexible and critical thinkers – essential tools that today belong in every toolbox. Keys’ students are empowered to actively engage with content in creative ways, discovering that to know something is usually not enough. We ask our students not to accept knowledge at face value, but to understand how the information came to be and who is telling the story. Our integrated curriculum challenges students to think beyond the surface, to examine and to investigate.

Balance and Well-Being are at the heart of the Keys experience.
At Keys, emotional intelligence is woven into everything we do as we nurture the Whole Child—mind, heart, body, and spirit. We believe thriving in today’s world requires more than academics. Our students build emotional, social, and self-awareness, learning self-regulation strategies that empower them to pursue goals, overcome challenges, and lead fulfilling lives. In our safe and inspiring community, students come alive, discover who they are, and engage deeply in learning. Our teachers foster self-awareness as a foundation for empathy and perspective-taking, giving students a meaningful edge in an increasingly complex world.
Growing an Inclusive Community
At Keys School, we celebrate and embrace diversity in all its forms, creating an inclusive community where every student feels valued and respected. Our commitment to inclusivity and diversity is reflected in our curriculum, programs, and daily interactions, ensuring that all voices are heard and every individual’s background enriches our collective experience. We believe that a diverse and inclusive environment fosters a deeper understanding and prepares our students to thrive in a global society.

We appreciate each child’s strengths, needs, and interests – all that makes a child unique. Social and emotional learning is embedded in all that we do at Keys, and we know our students learn best in a supportive environment where they are seen, heard, and valued as whole people. Students know that teachers and classmates are listening and that their voices matter.

Our Lower School (K-4) nurtures young learners in a supportive and engaging environment where curiosity thrives. From Maker Space to Wednesday Gatherings, we foster a love of learning while building strong foundations in literacy, math, science, and social-emotional skills.

At Keys Middle School, students in grades 5–8 engage in a dynamic curriculum that fosters academic challenge alongside social and emotional growth. Through experiences like the IDEAS Lab and the student-led Dragon Chronicles, we cultivate critical thinking, collaboration, and leadership to prepare students for success in high school and beyond.
