Euglena, Volvox, and Elodea

8th Grade students used microscopes to observe cyanobacteria, Euglena, Volvox, and Elodea. They were also asked to pay close attention to the size and location of chloroplasts within the Elodea. Through these observations, students will explore ideas related to evolution, including the evolutionary forces that led to the development of eukaryotic cells from prokaryotic cells, as well as the transition from single-celled organisms to multicellular organisms.
