Hello from Dr. Veal!
August 20, 2025
Dear Keys Community,
I am thrilled to introduce myself as the new Associate Head of Curriculum, Culture & Community, and to share my reflections on my first month at Keys. From my very first days, I have experienced an incredibly warm and thoughtful onboarding, filled with opportunities to meet many staff members and to experience firsthand Keys’ mission to “Know and be known. Listen and be heard. Dive in.” I chose Keys because the mission resonated deeply with me, and it has been truly inspiring to witness the way it comes alive each day throughout the school.
One of the highlights of my first month has been working alongside the remarkable administrative team. The energy, commitment, and creativity of our Leadership and Curriculum & Instruction teams have been invigorating. Our conversations—especially around building systems that further our commitment to Social Emotional Learning (SEL), Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice (DEIJ), and academic excellence—have given me great excitement for what we will accomplish together. While I have loved getting to know my colleagues, I’m especially looking forward to meeting more members of our faculty and staff, families, and, most importantly, our students. In the spirit of connection, I will be rolling out office hours throughout September—please keep an eye out for more information if you’d like to drop by for coffee and a casual conversation. I welcome every opportunity to listen, share, and learn from you.
As I settle in, my focus for this year will be on building relationships, gaining a deeper understanding of the wonderful work happening at Keys, and collaborating with the administrative team to review and strengthen our curricular program. My goal is to ensure that everything we do reflects our mission, aligns with our values, and supports the academic excellence and belonging of every child in our care.
Thank you for welcoming me into this extraordinary community. I am honored to be here and look forward to diving in—together.
With gratitude, Elizabeth Veal, Ed.D.
