“I Am From” Poems

Sixth grade begins the school year by exploring the stories that make us who we are.
Through “I Am From” poems and the creation of personal artifacts, students bring their words to life, transforming memories, meaningful objects, and everyday details into tangible pieces of their identities.
The project connects directly to 6th grade’s history unit, where artifacts help us understand the lives and experiences of ancient civilizations. As students discover, even the simplest objects can hold layers of history, meaning, and personal significance.
By creating artifacts of their own, they begin to see how the things we leave behind can tell powerful stories about who we are and where we come from.
