Magic Words and Magic C’s in First Grade

Students in First Grade are practicing lowercase handwriting and celebrated completing their “Magic C” letters this week. They also designed their own pencil cases and were excited to use erasers for the first time. To add even more depth to their writing, we introduced our special “Magic Words”: Why – What – Where – When – Who. These guiding questions help students build more exciting, detailed sentences. Instead of writing “I went to the park,” students are now considering why they went, who was with them, when they went, and what they did while they were there. Our young authors are growing into thoughtful, descriptive writers each day!
