What Causes Land to Change?

Our second graders kicked off the year by asking a big question: What causes land to change?
Through hands-on experiments and investigations, students explored how the slope of a landscape affects the movement of objects, closely observed the properties of rocks, and conducted tests to identify their own “mystery rocks.” Along the way, they practiced making observations, finding patterns, asking questions, and using evidence to make predictions about how rocks may have formed.
